
A positive pregnancy test can cause different emotions.
There are three options to consider:
- Continue with the pregnancy
- End the pregnancy with abortion
- Continue with the pregnancy and arrange for adoption or fostering

1. Choosing to continue with the pregnancy
- Book in with a midwife – you can do this online or by phone: Self-refer your pregnancy to the local NHS provider (online or by phone).
- The midwifery team will contact you to offer you a first appointment.
- All pregnant women should take folic acid and vitamin D – speak to your local pharmacist for advice.

2. Choosing to have an abortion
Abortions are usually available free of charge on the NHS.

3. Considering Adoption
You will still need to book your pregnancy with a midwife and follow the advice in section 1: ‘choosing to continue section’ above.
