Sensory Support Service
Sensory Impairment Team – Independence Support for Disabled People
The Sensory Impairment Team is part of Adult Social Care, Bristol City Council. They are a citywide team, working with Bristol citizens who are aged over 18 and are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Deafened, Deafblind or Visually Impaired. The Sensory Impairment Team provide support, advice and rehabilitation services in Bristol in line with the Care Act 2014, as well as offering Care Act assessments to those who may have longer term needs for care and support. As a multi-professional team, they are committed to supporting Bristol citizens to maximise their independence and achieve their goals.
Drop-in service
The Sensory Impairment Team offer an in-person drop-in service 2x weekly for citizens to access support with regards to:
- Translating letters, emails or written information to BSL
- To support with phoning and booking appointments
- To support with paying for bills and services
- To support with finding information and getting referrals to other services
Wednesdays 1.30pm – 3.30pm @ Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People (Vassall Centre, Gill Avenue, BS16 2QQ)
Fridays 1:30pm – 3:30pm @ Bedminster Library (Bedminster Parade, BS3 4AQ)
