Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are infections that spread during sex and sexual contact. Most STIs are passed between partners who have oral, vaginal or anal sex.

You can access sexual health care from your GP or Yuno, the local sexual health provider: Free, confidential sexual health services for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
Many people with STIs have no symptoms and do not know they have an infection. The only way to know you have an infection is to take an STI test.
If you do not have any symptoms and are age 16 or over, you can access testing without needing to see a healthcare professional:
- Order a postal home test kit from Yuno. This is a free service. A testing kit will be posted to you. You complete the test and post it back for free. You will then receive your results via text message or your online account: How to order a postal kit using your online account
- Pick up a testing kit from your local sexual health clinic: Locate a service here
- Pick up a test from a vending machine: Vending machine locations
- Contact your GP practice to ask if they have STI test kits available to pick up.
If you are experiencing symptoms, are age 15 or under or prefer to see someone in person:
- Yuno: Arrange an appointment for STI testing (all ages) at a Yuno clinic
- Yuno at Brook (for under 25s): Arrange an appointment for STI testing at Brook
- Common Ambition: Clinics specifically for African and Caribbean Heritage Communities
- Contact your GP practice to ask about STI testing
